                      1947 Airstream serial #1022

There were only a few trailers built by Wally Byams own hand. There are very few now surviving... this is one of them.

                      The serial number label reads:
                      Airstream
                      Model--6681   serial # 1022
                      Built by Wallace M. Byam
                      Metropolitan Airport
                      Los Angeles,California

                      This is a 1947 Airstream 22' Liner

                      single axle w/brakes

                      running/stop lights

The rear turn lights are not original--these year Airstreams were not build with turn signals as were not required in 1947

Pipe frame construction as ladder type frame came later in the early 1950's

All aluminium body construction outside and inside walls as well as the overhead cabs and single sink with base cab.

It has [not shown] factory fender skirts

The only steel in this airstream is the pipe frame and hitch.

The wood floor is solid with no soft spots.

                      Loaded loose inside is:
                      [1] 2-burner gas cook top
[1] alumn single sink w/alumn base cab
                      [4] mini blinds
                      [1] 1970's microwave
[1] wall gas furnace that belongs in the wood closet side panel near door
                      [1] dbl SS sink
[3] wall light globes for this model
                      [1] fresh water holding tank
                      [1] 12v water pump
                      [1] jack post wheel
[1] small box of misc parts
                      several small pieces of aluminium

The one double wood closet which the gas furnace mounts on is needing to be rebuilt.

The original base cabinets which the 2-burner gas cook top and a small ice box were mounted on have been removed.
